Whoever said island life was easy? . . . . .

What island life should be like.
What the reality actually is. . . .

It has been so incredibly busy for Terry and I as soon as November started, thus no postings on the blog etc. (so sorry) The season started  with having to buy a new car (our previous one caught on fire, so we figured it was time to upgrade.  No injuries to report, it was a minor one. :)  I started a new job with Magic Moments Luxury Excursions/Nauti Nymph Powerboat Rentals booking their boats with guests at Caneel Bay here on St. John.  I work 3 days a week and took this additional work so that we could pay off our boat this year.  (Yaah!)  Terry has been going crazy working on dive boats, driving dive boats, fixing dive boats and working on our own that we feel as if life is spinning out of control.  On top of all this is congregation responsibilities so needless to say life has been a bit hectic.  We feel like we are always running.

Island life is supposed to be laid back and mellow, . . . skip to beach scene, with tropical drink, waves lapping at your feet and Kenny Chesney or Bob Marley playing in the background. . . . now jump to reality during season.  We wake up at 6:00 am, dinghy from the boat into shore, drop Terry off at work, because of this I get to work about an hour early, wait till 8:00, start work and by the end of the day pretty much get home at dark.  Dark to dark just really stinks.  I know most of you are thinking, "well at least it's warm", and you are so right.  We do count our blessings and overall everything is working out really well.  But a couple of weeks back we just had to take a few days and get away.  We couldn't take it anymore.  So once again our little boat sailed us to the BVI where we enjoyed a couple of days of relaxation.  At least we can get away for the minimum expense.  I spend less in a weekend when we go to the BVI than I do in a weekend in St. John.  It's pretty cool.

Obsession at Cooper Island, BVI

One strange thing I did discover this time around is that during tourist season it is actually quieter at our mooring at home, but I'll complain about that on another post.  :) Perhaps we should do a staycation next time.  It was still nice to get away and see different scenery.
