We have all heard the song, "15 men on Dead Man's Chest, yo-ho-ho and a bottle of rum". Well, here's the island that song came from, Dead Man's Chest. BVI. |
People are always asking, "Where do you go on vacation when you live on such a beautiful island?" Well, when island fever hits (similar to cabin fever in the spring) we pull anchor and sail over to the British Virgin Islands. They are practically a stone's throw away. Along St. John's North Shore road, every pullout gives you a fantastic vista of the smattering of islands that make up the BVI.
I've been getting a little bit of "island fever" lately and so we decided we needed to get away for a few days by sailing over to the BVI. What makes the BVI so unique is the many little resorts and beach bars that are only accessible by boat. So here are a few pictures from our sail.

Cooper Island Beach Resort. This super small resort and a couple of private homes are the only things on this island. Cooper Island is one of our favorite getaways. |

From Cooper Island, looking over to Tortola, BVI. |
We then sailed over to Bitter End, Virgin Gorda. We wanted to check it out since we had never been there when they were open.

Saba Rock Resort, literally a resort on a small little island. |

It's hard to get perspective, but these guys are 3+ feet!

We had such a nice weekend of sailing. There is something so relaxing about the sound of water hitting the hull and the flap of the sails as a gust of wind hits them. It reminded us why we love living on a boat.
